Allen J. Waldo, FACHE, CPA, MBA, has been named chief executive officer at Cooper County Memorial Hospital (CCMH) in Boonville, Mo., effective January 25, 2010. As chief executive officer, Waldo is responsible for providing overall leadership, management and direction to CCMH.
Mike Conway made the announcement to the department managers this morning during the regular monthly manager meeting. “We will need to grow our revenues” he stated, “and Mr. Waldo will have ideas and perspectives that will be very beneficial”. He further indicated that the Board of Trustees is dedicated to ensuring we can provide an economically viable hospital and quality healthcare for our community. Mr. Conway also expressed the Board’s appreciation for all of the hard work from all CCMH staff throughout this year. He shared with the managers that the word “impressive” was used by most that met Mr. Waldo because of his firm belief that healthcare is his ministry. CCMH is looking forward to stability, longevity and moving forward.
Waldo previously served as chief operating officer for Citizens Memorial Hospital in Bolivar. He previously served as the chief executive officer of Barton County Memorial Hospital in Lamar, Mo. Prior to his work at Barton County Memorial Hospital, Waldo worked with Doctor’s Hospital in Springfield and served as chief financial officer for Skaggs Community Health Center in Branson. He has a bachelor’s degree in accounting and graduated magna cum laude from Missouri State University and completed a master of business administration in 2005. Waldo also is a certified public accountant and a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives, the nation’s leading professional society for healthcare leaders. Fellow status represents achievement of the highest standard of professional development.
Waldo enjoys family activities, bike riding, golfing and spring turkey hunting. He has been very active in the Bolivar community over the past 5 years and is looking forward to becoming an active community member in Boonville.
The Board received over 20 applicants for the position, and ultimately narrowed the selection to three final candidates who were brought in to tour the hospital, interview and meed with the administrative team, board members, department managers, and physicians and nurse practitioners. Additionally, Sarah Gallagher, economic development director, also provided a community tour for Mr. Waldo.
